Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791): Missa brevis B dur | KV 275, for soloists, mixed choir, orchestra and organ.

The St. John's Organ Cycle is enriched this year with one choral-instrumental concert, which significantly enriches the chamber series. In 2026, we commemorate the 270th anniversary of the birth of the musical genius W. A. Mozart. That is why the Bach Collegium Prague ensemble has included his composition in the program. The Missa brevis in B major, intended for soloists, mixed choir and string orchestra, is a typical example of Mozart's work full of sparkling wit, lightness and energy. The author wrote the composition in 1777 in Salzburg and it is the last mass before his departure for Vienna. The composition culminates in a captivating treatment of the Agnus Dei part, which is one of Mozart's most charming and is concluded with the typically joyful "Dona nobis Pacem".
